Japan is facing various social issues unique to developed countries with an aging society and a declining birthrate. It is important to increase the number of people with an entrepreneurship who approach innovation and the resolution of social issues to create the brighter future.The Solution
Helping people clarify what they really want to do and access the right opportunities for starting or growing their entrepreneurial actions by providing seminars, coordinating experienced mentors, talents and other resources.Since 1993, the nonprofit organization Entrepreneurial Training for Innovative Communities (ETIC) has pioneered an original approach to entrepreneurship training in Japan, using a mix of programs, events and peer-support communities. Their expertise is in helping people clarify what they really want to do and access the right opportunities for starting or growing their entrepreneurial actions by coordinating experienced mentors, talents and other resources.
ETIC has successfully supported 1,805 young entrepreneurs for over 25 years through our core programs, becoming the largest network of social change leaders in this country.
Also we serve as a bridge between this entrepreneurs’ network and enterprises, foundations, government and like-minded international partners.
Impact
・Dispatched over 200 professionals and entrepreneurs to support SMEs that were affected by the East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
・Matching over 2800 university students with internships at start-up companies.
・Supporting over 500 social entrepreneurs.
・Developed local network with over 60 partners.
