Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is New Zealand’s foremost visual arts museum and a cultural leader in the Asia-Pacific region. We hold the world’s premier collection of New Zealand art and the country’s most significant collection of international contemporary art. Our purpose is to be a place for art and a catalyst for ideas. We create experiences that strengthen and enrich our communities, and we value collaboration and dialogue.

An exhibition programme of excellence relies on philanthropic support. The Gallery’s public funding has over recent times been significantly reduced. We are now more than ever needing the support of people who believe in the important role art plays in contemporary culture. We seek support to build our collection, tour New Zealand art to the world and bring the best art in the world to New Zealand.

 As a bi-cultural organisation we make a major contribution to the cultural life of Auckland and Aotearoa New Zealand by collaborating with communities to offer inspiring art experiences that engage and challenge diverse audiences. We are the largest and most inspiring visual arts experience in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our collection and loan collections currently number more than 17,000 artworks. Together, they include major holdings of New Zealand historic, modern and contemporary art. Alongside outstanding works by Māori and Pacific artists, they represent significant international painting and print collections. We are committed to bringing the great art of the world to New Zealand and to touring our unique New Zealand collection internationally.
