Our Mission
Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) believes that, above all else, people are the key to reducing disaster risk, building resilience and minimizing impact of disasters. Anyone could encounter natural disaster. They work to create societies where everyone helps one another, even across borders.The Need
When a disaster strikes, vulnerable communities are often left out from public assistance and they need long-term support for recovery. As natural disasters could occur again in the future, building local response capacities for disasters need to be embedded in the community rebuilding process.The Solution
PBV responds to disasters in Japan and abroad, working with local stakeholders to support those in the affected areas effectively. PBV's assistance varies from logistical support and volunteer coordination to evacuation center management. PBV also offers diverse disaster-related training programs.Our Impact
PBV has implemented disaster relief programs in 59 communities in Japan since 2011. They have also carried out emergency relief operations in 33 countries in collaboration with PBV's sister organization, NGO Peace Boat. More than 100,000 volunteers have joined the PBV's relief efforts across Japan.
